— Rabbi Jonathan L. Hecht, Ph.D.

Former Dean at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Cincinnati Campus

Two Minute Torah gives fresh voice to an ancient wisdom that still has important messages for us in the 21st century. In a mere two minutes time, anyone who seeks to prioritize truth and integrity over political expediency and profit will find a routine of daily study invigorating and inspiring. It will change the way we understand our role within the universe, and the way we see our friends and families. It will change the way we go about making important decisions in our lives. The love that the rabbis and sages had for study would have them belly laughing at those who thought religion and science contradict one another. To the contrary, these scholars craved knowledge, and followed an old Jewish idea: whenever we learn something new and compelling we have crossed paths with God. Sometimes God speaks to us with myth and sometimes with math. God speaks to us through the sacred texts of the Bible, Mishnah, Gemara, and Midrash. One thing is for sure: God is always communicating with us and Two Minute Torah will open us to the many ways God's wisdom can guide us still.
