With every cloud comes a silver lining. This has been true throughout Sheree’s life. Amidst the hardest moments of her youth with abusive parents, she found joy in her grandfather’s little sanctuary in Georgia, the small moments of kindness by other adults, and the wonders of the natural world.
Making her way in life, from her military career to her marriages and children, every new adventure brought heartbreak, abuse, or, eventually, loneliness. Yet through it all Sheree managed to make a life for herself, one she takes great pride in.
The Scent of Lilacs is Sheree’s personal story of tragedy and triumph, in finding the beauty in the world when surrounded by darkness, and making it on your own.
