The Cart

In The Cart, a shopping cart becomes separated from its lot and embarks on a rambling adventure that eventually leads to the thrill of a lifetime. As the tale begins, the metal cart is bored with the day-to-day routine of being loaded, unloaded, and pushed around the grocery store and its parking lot. One day the wind blows him far from home and hes suddenly on his own, meandering aimlessly. This separation brings the cart excitement and daring adventure, but it also puts him in danger, and feelings of fear and loneliness creep in. Eventually the cart makes new friends, including a group of playful children with whom he spends a fun-filled afternoon. This joy is short-lived, however, as the wind again sweeps the cart away, this time directly into the path of fast-moving traffic that reduces him to a mangled mess of metal.
