That Van Buren Bay Summer: A Story That Waited a Lifetime
Sandy Johnson met Russ when she was on the beach at Van Buren Bay on Lake Erie. They shook hands, but the attraction was obvious. He was off to Dartmouth to study pre-med that fall. They took different paths, but Johnson never forgot him. Sixty-five years later, the stars aligned, and they met again. The heart never changes.

About the Author
Sandy Johnson raised a family of four sons, whose father died very young. Johnson felt an obligation to always set a good example, and she started writing poetry for them, and for others, as well as for her own enjoyment, on the first Father’s Day after his passing. This was the only gift Johnson had to give. She has written poetry for thirty years.
Russ became a distinguished orthopedic and hand surgeon, requiring years of education and dedication. To this day he is beloved. He worked night and day, taught interns, and accomplished much. Russ and Sandy’s relationship brings the greatest respect and dignity for each other, even though their roads took a different path.
