The story is told by a sixty-seven-year-old man, Norm Michael, who lived by this very pretty lake right in the middle of Texas. For years, he walked by this lake as the woods consumed him, and he wondered why she, Rebecca, still wasn’t here. One day, like magic, he received a note from her, explaining where she would meet him the following day. He was again thrilled by such good news. The next day, she met him by the point where they both had a great view of each other. For months they were everything to each other's souls. He loved her raven black hair, her soft lips, and the way she combed it was straight out of the fifties. Living in this perfect cocoon with the lake and the fireplace roaring each night, but Rebecca was hiding something that Norm Michael could never give her, and in Perry, Oklahoma, Rebecca gave up her secret. All was not lost, before Rebecca leaves, she would treat Norm Michael to a woman he would love for a lifetime.
