Popular is a story about a young gay Puerto Rican teen who moves to the beat of his own drum. His view of the world, based on countless pop culture movies, is soon shattered when he starts high school.

Popular highlights the best pop culture movie references, quotes, pop music and old classics. Bringing together many generations into one book with a unique spin. It will highlight the influence pop culture has had throughout the generations and how till this day pop culture lives on.

Many people from different walks and ages can read a reference or quote from a movie or song from their youth and remember a simpler time. We all crave for a bit of nostalgia. Popular is its own story while still acknowledging other pop culture stories, music etc.

Meñe wants people who read Popular to realize that being authentic is a powerful thing. We all don't have to conform to a standard that doesn't fit our unique lives and personalities. Be bold, be brave, be you.

About the Author

Meñe has volunteered before for Jennifer Hudson’s back to school giveaway called "Hatch Day.” He loaded bookbags with school supplies and handed them to families in need. \

When he is not writing, Meñe enjoys gardening, baking, making candles and soaps, and anything that keeps him busy and learning. Meñe also learned to care for and work with honeybees and he plans to learn how to sew so he can make his own clothing. Meñe is number three of four siblings. His mother was a single mom and his grandmother lived with him. She helped raise him while his mother would work. 

During his high school years, he was part of Steppenwolf Theater Young Adult Council program which sparked his creative drive to not just act but to bring a story to life.
