About the Author

Christopher L. Knauer a.k.a Chris O’Brian grew up as a shy Midwestern boy who was born in Eastern Iowa and grew up in a small Northwestern town in Illinois. He loves sports and music (maybe not in that order). Even though many radio and TV fans have assumed he has a special kind of personality and must enjoy living in the limelight, Chris prefers to just quietly do his best without a lot of hype or fanfare.

Chris’ hobbies include fishing, golfing, and traveling, and he still follows baseball and basketball as often as possible. He has three adult children and two grandchildren

ON THE AIR By Chris Knauer

When I read Chris’s book for the first time, I followed his life’s events, ups and downs, and unexpected turns. We’ve had very different paths to walk. However, there was a familiarity to it that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I read it a second time. Professionally he spent a stint in the Army, which I haven’t, I’ve never shot a caribou, had a major health scare, or parented. He was a sportscaster, I’ve never been involved in sports, I don’t even know the rules of checkers much less the rules of football.

Still, this is where Chris and I start to overlap. He had a chance meeting with a DJ in Fairbanks, Alaska, and a thread appeared that would guide him in his life’s way; A Career in Radio Broadcasting.

I’m a Career Freelance Guitar Player and I had much the same moment. There was the thought, a thread somehow appeared, and I knew that’s what I was meant to do. So where did those threads come from? Chris and I couldn’t have done that on our own. What did we know? They were co-created by us and something in the universe greater than ourselves. Hang on to that thread. Point well taken, Chris. Thanks.
