Lawyer for the City is a story about Rocco DeMarco, a dynamic, young lawyer who handles multi-million-dollar personal injury lawsuits for the D.C. Attorney General’s Office. DeMarco is assigned a police brutality case in which one of the plaintiffs is dead and the other is paralyzed for life. When he attempts to interview the police officers involved, they refuse to speak to him. Forced to investigate the case on his own, DeMarco travels to every corner of the City trying to discover what actually happened. After visiting the City morgue, D.C. General Hospital, and the Lorton Reformatory, DeMarco discovers that the reason that the police won’t talk is that the Mayor of the District of Columbia may be involved in the shooting. This book gives the reader an inside look at what it is like to prepare and try a multi-million-dollar police brutality case.
