Larry E. Kendrick was born on March 22, 1942, on his family’s dairy farm in Freeborn County, Minnesota, just east of the town of Freeborn. Raised alongside two brothers and a sister, he grew up in a hardworking rural community shaped by strong family values and service. His older brother served in the Army and was stationed on Okinawa when World War II came to an end.

Kendrick graduated from Freeborn High School in 1960, where he was a standout athlete, lettering in all four sports and serving as co-captain of the track team. During his high school years, his teams achieved multiple league championships in football, basketball, baseball, and track.

After serving in the United States Army, he graduated from Winona State University in 1968. He later worked for 25 years as an account auditor for the State of Minnesota and also spent several years in real estate sales and brokerage.

His hobbies have included hunting, fishing, running, bowling, and following professional sports. Kendrick is also a longtime member of American Legion Post 9 in Winona, Minnesota. He is a proud father and grandfather with six grandchildren.
