Dave Simonton is a chief contract specialist at one of the largest Fortune 500 companies in Atlanta, Georgia. He has a rare skin condition that makes him resemble someone with albinism. Nevertheless, his world takes a sudden turn for the worse when he commits a terrible crime that lands him in a psychological asylum alongside some of the most dangerous criminals in the state penitentiary. After a failed escape attempt fueled by a bad drug reaction, Dave begins to hallucinate and dream of his past, bringing to life the tragic event that led to his incarceration. Furthermore, with each new revelation comes understanding, and as visitors arrive, the effects of his actions reveal the drastic changes in his relationship with those who suffer because of him.

Comatosis is a reminder to tell the people in our lives that we love them before life turns dark and we never have that chance again. The story is a constant reminder that with every moment, life changes, and with each changing moment, we must all make the right choices. 

About the Author

O'Neal Mason was born and raised in Bay Minette, AL. He graduated from Alabama State University with a degree in Performing Arts. It was during his college years that his love for writing became a passion. Earlier in his career, he worked for several group homes and a Job Corps Center, where he assisted young adults in obtaining their GEDs and completing college coursework. He later devoted his time to helping military family members and soldiers returning from war understand the signs of PTSD by providing classes and educational materials designed to increase awareness of mental illness and its symptoms.  

Mr. Mason now resides in Denton, TX.
