Beautiful People Do Not Just Happen chronicles the good works of the author’s mother. The way she grew up from humble beginnings, and her efforts in helping others, even though she was struggling herself. The relevance of the message is: No matter how life gets rough, once there is a will and a strong belief in God, things will eventually work out.

About the Author's Mother

Daisy Mae Blackwood, served as the welfare and community service leader at the Dover Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she exhibited her love for home and family life. She organized family workshops and community outreach programs that strengthened bonds among church members, fostering a spirit of unity and support throughout the congregation. At times she would take in children and elderly persons who didn’t have anywhere to live and provided accommodation for them. For example, she helped thirty-two children, ranging from age four to twenty-four and sixteen elderly persons, and made houses on her land to house them. In addition, her six children were assigned to take turns caring for the elderly. Her hobbies are missionary work, taking care of the elderly, keeping gospel meetings, and pointing people to God. Her special interests were in the growth and development of her church and her community while taking care of the sick and needy. Her family was not only her immediate family but anyone who needed help. She had the support of her children and husband. She was the backbone of the family. Blackwood’s mother had a BA (born again) in many areas. She held every office in her church from the janitor to senior Elder and received many awards.
