“Jeff Chapman has either the gift or curse of being able to look at what's happening around him and find the odd angle that makes it funny. It's an offbeat, slightly esoteric humor, which means sometimes the rest of us don't immediately get it. Usually if you think awhile, you can figure it out, which makes the humor quite a bit more rewarding than, say, a fart joke that every 12-year-old immediately understands. You also have to be willing to put up with quite a bit of Richard Nixon, but for me that makes it even funnier. On that level, Chappie was meta before meta was cool.”
