A Coming Of Age
Thirteen-year-old Seth McCafferty must confront the harsh challenges of life when his family decides to join a wagon train heading west to escape the horrors of the Civil War. Seth faces backbreaking work, discord with his father, wild animals, and hostile Indians, as well as the bliss and sometimes confusing pangs of first love.
About the Author
Jack D. Bowers was born and raised in Abilene, Kansas, graduating with the class of 1950. He entered the military in 1952 and retired from the U.S. Army as a master sergeant in 1978. While in the service he earned a B.A. from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, and an M.A. from Webster College in St. Louis. He is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he enjoys singing barbershop harmony, especially as a member of the City of Lights Barbershop Chorus.
