Wynwood, Little Haiti and Little Santo Domingo are three municipalities in Miami, Florida that are in jeopardy of being demolished due to ongoing gentrification. Unbeknownst to many, including your author before writing this book, these communities are brimming with history dating back to the origins of Miami. Growing up in these communities, Gerald Reyes had a front row seat to the invasions of  art studios and billion-dollar development plans. He feels that this development is intentional and strategically forcing out original Miami residents from what were affordable housing areas. With the inundation of art studios opening in our communities. A local business owner or community restaurant is displaced and will have to start from scratch elsewhere. With each shovel that goes into the dirt for large-scale development, A chuck of the community identity is forfeited. Developers contend that their projects will revitalize our communities, but Reyes explores what is lost.
