The Solitary Child

Excellent stories. Nice variety of genres, all very relatable, very authentic. This is a writer who can write! I have my favorite stories of course, and find myself re-reading them over and over, but each new story is a lovely surprise, each with a twisty intriguing ending.

The Solitary Child

St. Giles, a brilliant and eloquent writer, brings a wealth of history and personal experience to each page, providing mesmerizing reading pleasure. Her stories, rich in imagination, often express roots in history with informative substance guiding the plot. Some stories leave the reader’s imagination to complete the
conclusion details – an invitation for a further connection between reader and writer. Readers identify with a woman who might not survive in the outback, stuck with an arrogant, self-absorbed lawyer confused by a ‘Dingo Fence.’ Home squatters occupying a newly inherited family property find resolution with the owner through patience, grace, and irony. A young ‘Solitary Child’ befuddled by strange communication resorts to scheming as she remains lonely. A mystery explosion is artfully untangled to reveal a chance act of compassion in a bar occupied by Nazis. Geography, culture, and history are woven into fascinating, captivating storylines
that take you into different worlds, often based on St. Giles’ personal experiences, with imagination leading the way. Beautiful, intriguing twists that end some stories invite the reader to think creatively together with St. Giles’ ingenuity. St. Giles has two other books of short stories, ‘Nowhere to Hide’ and ‘Belonging.’
