Don't Suppress Your Empathy
Todays technology, in many ways, connects us more than ever before. We can go online to hear news from the other side of the world, we can read emails on the bus, and we are rarely ever unreachable by phone. But although this ease of communication is undeniable, the connection is not always meaningful. In Dont Suppress Your Empathy, Bela Newman reminds us that humanity, not technology, is our most important connection to each other and to the universe.
Drawing on religious texts, Jewish tradition, ancient philosophy, and modern psychology, Newman encourages us to look at our relationships with one another and rediscover the importance of empathy. He presents a collection of aphorisms, brief lessons that highlight the joys and truths discovered when we care for each other. Newman reinforces his views with scholarly and historical studies that show how important empathy can be to our society, to our religious convictions, and to ourselves. In the pages of this book, you will rediscover what true connection means.
