Ben's Story: Living with Friedreich’s Ataxia
At fourteen years old, Karen Oliver’s son Ben was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia, a rare genetic disorder affecting coordination and mobility and causes the development of cardiomyopathy and associated arrythmias. She was told he would be wheelchair bound by seventeen and live no longer than thirty-four. But Ben was not going to let that stop him.
Ben’s Story details his incredible life through the eyes of his mother. How his adventurous spirit led him to university, teaching, traveling all over the country and beyond, jumping from planes, and so much more. He defied the odds by living fifteen years longer than anyone ever expected, and lived every moment with gusto and passion. Ben’s amazing life is a reminder to live each day and defy all the odds.
