Shearad H. Wright was born in Florence, South Carolina, and attended high school in our nations capital: Washington, D.C. In 1935 he moved to New York City. After a satisfying career with the New York City Department of Social Services, which spanned twenty-three years, he retired but remains quite active. For three years, he served as a community outreach worker at the Church of the Master Presbyterian, administering psychological counseling. Since then he has been a private sociological consultant. In 1983 he was awarded a masters degree in sociology with a concentration in psychology from the City College of New York City. Mr. Wright has one daughter, Cherilyn, who also resides in New York.
