Book cover type

Throughout his life, Leonard A. Rich has been surrounded by football coach mentors, his own father being the very first. Throughout grade school and into high school, each coach made an impact on the man he would later become. However, at Westminster College, he met Coach B. Eugene Nicholson, a coach who would change the trajectory of Leonard’s life.

When Coach passed away in 2019, Leonard, inspired by the life he lived and the lessons he taught, compiled Coach’s history, teachings, and impact he made. Lessons from My Coach is more than an account of one man's influence on another's life. It is a testimony to the influence that a coach, a mentor, a teacher, a role model might have on another's personal character and life trajectories.

What I needed

I was an athlete from elementary to high school, and I never went on to college soccer because I never had an impactful coach. Lessons from my Coach showed me an example of a good coach and what I should have been learning throughout my athletic career.

A Beautiful Dedication

While I never met coach B Eugene Nicholson, I felt how influential of a man he was from hearing this author's testimony. I wish every student athlete could experience a mentorship such as this.
