The Road to North
The Road North: Por El Camino Real De La Tierra Adentro is a story of how one individual, living in Spain, comes to the new World by ship in 1721. He arrives in Vera Cruz, traveling to Mexico City by caravan; he then travels to Santa Fe, trekking the 1,800 miles distributing supplies and accepting settlers who wish to travel north along El Camino Real De Tierra Adentro. It takes six months of difficult travel, making every day difficult in one way or another. This story is about how the individual comes to love the area of Santa Fe and its difficult life.
About the Author
Edward Lopez is a resident of Taylorsville, Utah whose family came north per "El Camino Real De Tierra Adentro" and settled in Santa Fe. Lopez graduated from the University of San Francisco. He became interested in The Road North at nine years old, living in Trampas, New Mexico with his relatives. To his ancestors, this road was the lifeline for their survival, as it provided supplies from 1598 to 1846.
