The Color Of Reseda

By Maria Kurtovich
Regular price $19.00

Compelling and intense, The Color of Reseda follows the fortunes of the beautiful Claire from her teenage years in prewar Austria, through the torment of the Anschluss and World War II, and to her fulfilling years as the Austrian people rebuild their stricken country. Concentrating on Claire and the Burghoff family, Maria Kurtovich uses their microcosm to show how they retain their love of the land and remain true to their rural roots. The triumphs and the tragedies of one womans life illustrate both the grinding hardship of the war and early postwar years and the gradual recovery of a defeated but not broken rich tapestry of Austrian life.

About the Author

Maria Kurtovich was born and brought up in prewar Vienna and her love of that city is evident in her work. She lived through the tribulations she describes so vividly. After the war, she and her husband came to the U.S. and raised their family, but never forgot their native land. Today, she lives in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys her garden and her needlework when she can spare the time from her writing.
