In a jungle in a faraway country, the animal kingdom is gathering for a great feast, during which they will choose a new leader for the year. All the animals are to come, bringing all kinds of wonderful foods to share. However, the tortoise and the elephant both wish to be the leader for the year, and an argument erupts. In fear for this life, the tortoise throws his soft-boiled coco yam at the elephants forehead, and the animal kingdom in thrown into confusion! Everyone runs hither and thither as the elephant bellows that his brain has been broken by the tortoise, and the animals begin to fear his strength and determination. Did the tortoise really break the elephants brain? Will the animals settle down and return to their feast? And who will be the leader for the year? About the Author
A native of Nigeria, Mariagoretti E.O. Noble became a U.S. citizen in 1996 in New York City, where she is a teachers assistant and has lived in the Bronx for fifteen years with her children. She obtained her associate degree in accounting from Monroe College and her bachelors of science from Iona College. Her work with children inspired her to exercise her writing abilities, and she also enjoys singing and dancing in her spare time.
