In Rainbows from Heaven, Lynne Sanders talks about her ongoing struggle with grief following the death of her son, Gary. Garyor Peanut, as everyone called himdied suddenly in a car accident when he was thirty-eight. He left behind three young children, a brother, a sister, two loving parents, and many faithful friends. Peanut is remembered by all as a friendly man with a quick smile. But his mother knew that underneath, he was nursing feelings of loneliness and betrayal since his wife left him and took their kids.

Sanders reminisces about her sons life and discusses her daily pain following his passing in Rainbows from Heaven. She also describes the many ways Peanut shows her he is still with her, through signs such as rainbows and roses, which appear when she feels he is near.

Sanders wrote this book to help get through her sadness and in the hopes of helping others who have lost children do the same.
