Mike is an exceptional student with aspirations of becoming a pharmacist. He is anxious to succeed, yet he also holds a desire to break out of his caste-like existence. While re-evaluating his use of recreational drugs, circumstances lead to a rash decision. He is forced into a road trip to escape arrest. A series of misfortunes is catching up faster than he can outpace it. A tour de farce ensues, with compounding crimes, leading to seemingly inescapable turmoil. Throughout the story, he is consciously influenced by the recall of his departed friend Draco, and subconsciously influenced the spirit of the same, through dreams.

The spirit of Draco is also the story’s narrator, of sorts. Despite his gained advantages, the recently deceased narrator is still learning how to navigate his new being. He garners help from more experienced spirits, who always manage to find a brief moment to provide tips and assistance.

Humor, like a good wine, can be dry and dark. In that spirit, the story is a comedy.
