The Dark Blessing

We were flying around trees and jumping over rocks. I was flat against his neck so a low branch would not knock me off his back. We just jumped the creek and came up to a break in the woods. In front of me was the yard of the house that I had loved since I was a little girl. It was a huge red-brick plantation home with a stable in the back. I had been to this part of the woods many times, wondering what it would be like to live in that grand house.

But today I was not looking at the house because out in the yard was the most beautiful man I had ever seen.
