She and her family have a small farm in central Virginia where they raise ducks, chickens, guineas, cows and pigs. They also have two very funny donkeys, a cat, and Jake the dog. Blanton began writing while obtaining her masters in teaching in 2022. She spent several years working with special education and tutoring. Blanton likes to believe that children will enjoy the reality of her stories. After completing her first book, she moved from North Carolina to Virginia and she went back to working as a full time social worker.
