About the Book

Rediscover America's Sin City. 1930s Peoria, Illinois, home to organized crime, gambling, prostitution, and corruption. A town controlled by a ruthless gang and a mayor with deep pockets.

A city nicknamed the King of Burlesque. "If it plays in Peoria, it plays anywhere." Enter a world of depression, faith, and hope, where guns and fisticuffs rule. Our hero, Nick Stihl, is a boxer turned P.I., trying to make a difference with all odds stacked against him. A world of violence, with grim dark humor trying to even things out. A man with true friends, in a land of enemies. Learn from the past to learn about the future!

"Where there is money, there is evil. You might even be favored to win against Washington..."

If you cannot get enough of the 1930s detective fiction, and thought you read it all, Richard Olson has provided us with a novel that is worth picking up to read. You will not be disappointed. Usual beatings, blood around the mouth, drawn into a courtroom case and a conspiracy that weaves in and out of sexy damsels, and references of Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney on top. I don't want to give away much of the plot but this private eye has all the classic trademarks you expect -- and want -- in a detective novel. Wish there were more like this. Enjoy the adventures of Nick Stihl with this novel.

I have not read a book in many years. I started this book and it kept me interested from the beginning to the end. It was exciting and well written. I liked the characters and the stories, they made sense and were believable. I would definitely read more Nick Stihl Stories!
