by Elizabeth Meeks The Cogger is a fast-paced thriller which incorporates mystery with psychology and is intended to illustrate how an individuals mental fabric affects his or her actions. This novel is designed around a family that must deal with a child having two disorders, Attention Deficit and Defiant Opposition. The drama begins by introducing Marie Porter and her son, Nathaniel, then creates additional characters from diverse backgrounds. Next, a series of murders, that become the novels center, are introduced. Finally, Marie inadvertently becomes an amateur detective to discover the killers identity. (2003, paperback 52 pages)
