by Jennie Rookledge If you were to write out the story inside of you, what would it be about? One morning a group of mothers decided to explore their writing abilities in the hopes of coming up with the next worldwide bestseller. Each set out to write one chapter from the point of view of a person at a different stage in life: an infant, a child, a young adult, and a mature woman. While knowing their dreams of fame and fortune were farfetched, they decided to order the stories according to the ages of the speakers and play the lottery with the numbers. The Alternative Lottery, by Jennie Rookledge, is a collection of short stories that give a unique perspective to everyday life. Through them you can find the story that lives inside you. ABOUT THE AUTHOR A native of England, Jennie Rookledge lives in Carshalton Beeches, Surrey, with her husband, Gordon Charles Rookledge.
