My Grandmothers House Plant is a delightful story that is sure to entertain both grandparents and grandchildren alike. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Najiyyah Avery was born in Asheville, North Carolina. She was recognized as the first African-American woman to graduate from the carpentry, cabinetmaking, blueprints reading and architect designing class at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in 1989. She also founded The Gussie Wardlaw Open Arms Foundation. Ms. Avery enjoys writing poetry and stories for children. She has been inspired by a close friend along with her three sons Joshua, Genya, Jailateef, and the four oldest of her grandchildren. The author is currently a resident of Atlanta, Georgia.
