Methods and Practices: Public Health Legal Preparedness for Disasters and Emergencies in Sub-Sahara Africa is a detailed consideration of the imperative need for internally prepared programs for mitigating public heath emergencies in the region. The author warns against over-dependency on Western aid and intervention in response to infectious disease outbreaks, other health emergencies, and natural and human-caused disasters, arguing persuasively that Sub-Sahara Africa has the intellect, knowledge, and skills to design mitigation programs for emergencies as well as to address the substantial environmental problems that have resulted from the abusive practices of mining, oil, and gas companies. About the Author

Dr. Ishmael D. Norman is a lecturer at the University of Ghana, where he also earned a Ph. D. in Public Health. He holds a law degree, J. D., from the Franklin Pierce Law Center, NH., U.S.A. He is also the author of several novels.
