About the Author

Author nancy cress skalsky was born and raised in eastern Montana. She grew up with her mother, father, and three older siblings. Her childhood was spent playing in the fields around her home and on the family farm. She loved exploring, catching water snakes and insects, and camping all over Montana and neighboring states, visiting state parks, historical places, fishing, boating, and swimming. These were some of the happiest times spent with her family. Throughout the years, her father raised dogs and she learned to love them as much as he did. Love of the wonder of nature, as well as raising pets are her favorite hobbies. She has raised several cats, parakeets, seven guinea pigs, plus Maizee and Gracie Mae with her son.

As a graduate from the Institute of Children’s Literature of Redding Ridge, Connecticut, she has published a poem in Selected Works of Our World’s Best Poets copyright 1992 by World of Poetry Press.

She has lived in Wyoming, North Dakota, and now resides in Helena, the state capital of Montana. She is married and is a stay-at-home mom to their two children.
