About the Book

Enrique Aragon, or Rick to his family and friends, is a simple young man from a humble background. Since he couldnt afford college, he decides to enlist in the US Navy, and thats when he meets Margaret Louise Van Buren, or Maggie, as he fondly calls her. A daughter of a retired submarine captain and a university professor, Maggie is from a well-to-do family. She and Rick are worlds apart in their backgrounds, but in each other they found true love. Yet the circumstances of the time conspire to keep them apart, as the United States is at war with Vietnam. Rick is called to serve overseas, and Maggies own experience with her fathers absence, being at sea most of the time, while growing up confuses her mind that she winds up thinking Rick will be the same as her fathers absenteeism. And with this, as words go unspoken or misspoken between them, a misunderstanding to be sure, they part ways. Will they find the way back to each other again?
